Baseball Institute
FAQ's
Why should I come to the Baseball Institute?
Your body is your most important piece of equipment. If you are injured or lacking strength and flexibility, you will never be as good of a player as possible. In order to maximize your talent, your body must be in the best baseball specific shape as possible. We are experts at the body, improving biomechanics, and we know the specific demands of a baseball player on the body. We make good baseball athletes…great baseball athletes!
Who have you worked with in the past?
We have seen and are working with some of the best players in the area. Virginia has some top notch prospects and the scouts know it. We are often in touch with several major league scouts about the players we work with and what specifically they are looking for so we can shape the training of our baseball athletes. We current have players winning awards at the high school level, playing at high Division I schools, and in the Major Leagues. Are methods and experience are proven.
What does training entail?
See our Programs page for more information. All the programs are customized based on your physical condition, age, goals, past injuries, and position. We specialize in pitchers but work with position players as well. We also treat baseball injuries including arm pain but prefer to get players before injury to all injury prevention and performance enhancement.
Is this is a hard workout? Is there a home exercise program?
The workout is intense at times. We use physical therapy techniques such as contract-relax and muscle releasing methods to improve flexibility with you lying on the table. From there we teach you supporting self stretching, high level strengthening in baseball positions, endurance work, throwing and hitting balance training, and other exercises. Many of these are given to be repeated at home, school, or a gym. We also have a gym at our clinic for your use. The frequency of sessions is also customized but you will be given things to do between sessions and it will be a program you can keep and continue with after your sessions with us are finished.
What are the results?
We don’t teach baseball or fit equipment. However, we guarantee you will improve your strength, flexibility, strength, endurance, and balance in baseball specific positions. We often need to work on core stability, shoulder blade strength, rotator cuff strength, hip and hamstring flexibility, high level balance, and explosion and plyometric jumping and agility drills to make you the best athlete possible. Then your baseball talent can take over.
What is the cost?
Every program is customized so the cost depends on the number and frequency of sessions. Usually the first session is free. If you bring some teammates, there are great discounts available. Call to get started at 540-374-9399.
