Hand Therapy OSPTA, Inc. offers specialized hand therapy including preventative, post-injury, and pre/post surgical care. Hand therapists are physical or occupational therapists who have specialized training and experience beyond their basic degree in treating the hand and upper extremity. Services offered at OSPTA, Inc. include an initial evaluation and formulation of a treatment plan that address the goals of the patient and referring physician. Other services include the fabrication of custom splints if needed to protect or stabilize appropriate joints. Therapists may also recommend and/or order prefabricated braces or splints for specific diagnoses. Treatment in hand therapy usually always includes a home exercise program and may also include in-clinic exercises for improved mobility, posture, and strength, modalities such as heat, cold, or electrical stimulation, soft tissue mobilization and the management of scars, swelling and post-surgical incisions.
